Hiiros

Hiiros

When we first saw this Tomato variety, we knew its deep red color was an important part of the story. That’s why we named the product Hiiros: The Japanese translation of Scarlet Red. The name is a perfect homage to this Tomato’s origin story as well as an authentic way to describe its rich red coloring.

Another eye-catching element of our Hiiros™ Tomatoes is its deep green vide and calyx (the star shaped leaf found on top). With such an elegant contrast between the vines and the fruit, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to offer Hiiros™ Tomatoes both on the vine and loose with the calyx.

Hiiros

A variety originally bred for the Japanese market, which views exceptional produce as a gift of honor, Hiiros™ Tomatoes are grown from the finest seeds.

Hiiros™ Tomatoes offer a rich umami flavor with a distinguishing level of sweetness that adds depth and complexity of flavor that you won’t experience from any other Tomato.

What exactly is umami? One of the five basic tastes – alongside salty, sweet, sour, and bitter – umami is best described as a savory or meaty flavor. Hiiros™ Tomatoes are unique in that their umami flavor is perfectly balanced with a sweetness typically tasted in a Cherry or Grape Tomato.

Whether a healthy snack or a fresh ingredient for tonight’s dinner, Hiiros™ Tomatoes will get your taste buds soaring.
