1. What is greenhouse grown?

Sustainable growing method. Control temperature, humidity, and light to provide plants with optimal growing conditions year-round.

2. Is greenhouse growing sustainable?

There are many sustainable benefits to greenhouse farming including reduced water consumers, less land use, bio-mass heating, Integrated Pest Management systems, reduced food miles, etc.

3. Do you use pesticides?

We offer our produce  in both Organic and Conventional formats. When growing both our conventional and organic produce, our integrated pest management system is our number one prevention method of unwanted bugs, however, if it is absolutely necessary, we will turn to using some form of pesticides to save the crop if needed for our conventionally grown produce. We do our absolute best to avoid pesticide use, however, it may occur where there is an aggressive pest that cannot be controlled by the other good bugs. Our Organics mean they are completely pesticide free, which we will only use our IPM to combat the bad bugs.

4. What is Integrated Pest Management?

IPM is a broad-based approach that utilizes all available techniques in an organized program to suppress pest populations in environmentally sustainable ways. We have specially trained scouts (our Bug Brigade!) who inspect our plants daily to identify and monitor plant damaging pests such as insects and diseases, as well as the balance of beneficial insects throughout the crop.

Using seeds from our produce to grow your own will not result in the same flavors as our produce bought in stores. The reason being that the we grow are from first-generation varieties, if you grown plants from the seeds found within this fruit, you will be growing second-generation variety.  We liken it to genetics of a parent and a child. While they will share some genetic traits, they won’t be the same.
